An important feature of the artistic image M.Dronova is complete openness of European and world culture in which he was particularly attracted to the heritage of antiquity, the Renaissance, the School of Paris. He willingly enters into a dialogue with the old masters, showing the ability to subtle forms of synthesis. Sculptor often refers to historical subjects, being able to fill them with overtones of the current interpretation.

Already in his early years showing a bright personality and a tendency to experiment, the sculptor has quickly found his own style and seamlessly moved to the “eternal” topics described outwardly simple, modern, and the allusive language. In the works of nature is exposed Dronova free and bold transformation, designed to cause a wide range of associations. English sculptor laconic, sometimes paradoxical, where the unique, tailor, carried to form enriched geometrism game start. Operating with minimal plastic means, the author achieves ambiguity of the image, the deep emotion and acute expressiveness.

Arsenal master diverse, he is free to work in the easel and monumental sculpture in the round sculpture and relief (series “The Four Elements, 2006), has masterly portrait genre, multi-figure compositions (” wise men “, 1989), rare in the sculpture still life (” boots ” , 2001). Gorgeous professional, he easily passes from realistic-illusory to generalized modeling, aged in the conventional way, the metaphor of the formulas. Michael Drones dare touch serious and complex problems of existence, but often resorts to humor, irony and the grotesque. Do not overlook the characteristic for Russian art theme of “little man” (“Saxophone”, 1987), he prefers to abandon the narrative, which makes the viewer a character familiar narrative often develops into a sign, a symbol, sometimes requiring decryption. Remembering nadvremennoy essence of the ancient craft of the sculptor, master resolutely takes the interlocutor of topical interest to talk about “what matters”. Among these works – created in antikiziruyuschem spirit as homage to the classics, but with signs of post-modern composition “The Last Days of Pompeii” (1998).

The exposition in the “House Nashokin” resolved in a way that the audience offered stingy to the point of minimalism visuals: a large number of his works M.Dronov chose to show a little more than a dozen. However, any of these works, whether “old man with brushwood” (1984), “Robin Hood” (1996) or “The Sea” (2006), can be considered a landmark, each at various times called business card website. Taken together, these sculptures succinctly and concisely outline the major stages of the path traversed by three decades of intensive labor. All work carried out for the most part in a favorite technique of the master – bronze, will be the most free, in the spirit of contemporary design trends, placed in the “basement” “House Nashokin” allowing enter into direct contact with the sculpture, to perceive it in collaboration with the space, see the slightest nuances.

The exhibition’s title – “Swamp” – gave up in 2008 multi-figure composition. However, the title contains a reference to another project, “Swan Lake”, realized over 10 years ago and is also named for a key at the time the work in 1994. Drone is among the few artists of the faithful to the rule “most Turn Style” are not afraid to change successfully found, easily recognizable manner. Comparison of two landmark papers gives an indication of the wide range as the master, and his penchant for philosophical reflection of reality, as well as a desire without false pathos and didacticism to offer their own interpretation of events in modern history, in his eyes, the country experienced.

From the statements of the artist: “The happiest moment in your work? When something came up, and then did – and the idea and the result matched. It is interesting to think of interesting fashion, fashion good … So far as I can well … and enjoy the result. In any case, much of what I have done, I have not seen other artists. “
